RiT services
We can help with assessment of qualifications and referral to local agencies on a national level.
The project has a focus on West London and the West Midlands, working closely with partners in both areas, but we can offer more general advice, help with assessment of qualifications and referral to local agencies on a national level.
We offer the following:
- Advice on routes into teaching – Information on the different training routes available and what qualifications are needed, how to gain QTS, and any other questions you may have. You can telephone, or come to one of our regular drop-in sessions.
- Information – On registration, you can sign up for a regular newsletter and an e-group, which will provide you with ongoing information for teachers, including meetings, conferences, training and news.
- Qualification assessment – If you have not had your qualifications looked at by UK NARIC, we can find out the equivalence free of charge.
- Specialist guidance – We have two specialist Information, Advice and Guidance workers based in London and Birmingham. You can arrange a personal appointment, to discuss individual needs. This could be help with filling in applications, getting work experience, gaining further language skills or discussing what you want from your career in schools.
- Short courses – These are courses you can go to while still receiving benefits. They cover information on routes into teaching, how the UK education system works and communication skills.
- Short term work placements – These are for teachers who need experience of working in a school in the UK. Experience in a UK school is needed when applying for initial teacher training.
- Help getting onto training courses – Two of the project partners are Initial Teacher Training providers. They can give help on how to get onto the G/RTP and OTTP.
- Online resources - the RiT website has a wealth of information, resources, useful links and advice for both refugee teachers and for those organisations working with them, including advisors and employers. RiT has also produced an online tool 'Your path to a career in education,' which provides individualised assessment and more detailed information.
