New Mentoring Coordinator and Advice and Guidance Worker
The project has two new staff members based in Leeds and London. Alison Briggs has recently joined RiT as the new Mentoring Co-ordinator based in London, and Isra Husain joined as Regional Guidance worker based in Leeds.
Isra is giving tailored information, advice and guidance to refugee teachers based in the north of England, over the phone and in person. She also refers refugee teachers to other services which could be useful, while monitoring the progress of teachers as they move toward their education and employment goals.
As part of the expansion of RiT, the project will be offering mentoring as part of a package of new services we provide. Over the coming months we will be giving you more information on how you can get involved, either by offering to be a mentor, or signing up to be a mentee. Mentors will be individually matched to mentees for a period of up to six months, normally for around six hours a month depending on the individual’s support needs. The RiT Mentoring Coordinator Alison will provide comprehensive support and training to ensure the pairing is beneficial for both parties. We will be updating you further when services start.
