This free course will run for 2 days a week for 8 weeks and will be made up of taught sessions at Leeds Metropolitan University and a focused work-experience placement within a Leeds school.
The taught sessions will include the following:
-Introduction to the UK curriculum- Policy into practice
-Behaviour management- Voice projection
-Academic writing- Current issues in Education
-Learning and teaching styles- Role of the teacher
-Interview technique- Completing applications
Participants will build up a portfolio of evidence from their school placements relating to the Qualified Teacher Status standards.
The course is aimed at refugees with teaching backgrounds. Applicants should have an intermediate level of English, and be able to commit 2 days of their time a week to the course (one day will be Friday).
