Do I have the right qualifications?
If you did qualifications overseas, you need to find out their equivalency to the English education system. An organisation called UK NARIC checks all qualifications, including high school certificates, from around the world, and compares them to the English system.

Overseas qualifications
To do any form of initial teacher training, you need certain qualifications. One of the pre-requisites you need are GCSEs (or their equivalent) in English and Maths (and Science if interested in Primary school) at grades A*-C. If you aren't sure whether you have the equivalent, or don't know how to get these qualifications, the information sheet below gives full details.

What training is available?
Once you have found out what your overseas qualifications are equivalent to in England, you can then think about what training options are available to you.
Teaching in England is a postgraduate profession - if you want to be a full teacher in the compulsary sector, you need to have a degree. There are different training options depending on what qualificaitons you already have.
